The Amal-e-Danish school was started in 1984 by a set of students in the Korangi industrial Area Karachi. The aim of this organization was to increase literacy in Pakistan by offering basic education to the illiterate masses. There had always been keenness for education in suburbs of the city by the parents. The work of Amal-e-Danish stopped due to poor law and order conditions and Ms.Rao restarted the work again in the mid 90s.
She started off her work by renting a house in Surjani Town to educate individuals with no age limit at fees as low as Rs.30/ month but parents were not even able to afford this fee. Amal-e-Danish immediately carried out a research and changed their strategy by establishing a regular school named as “One Rupee School” with one rupee fee only.
Official Wesbite: Amal-e-Danish. Way to Help the school.
